A new layout for the RESCO Office was made, and we all worked it out on a Friday starting at 9 in the morning. There were some trills and charge before we started off. Here are some pictures to show what we've done :)

Hello everyone!

I, Celine Ang, am very happy to say that today, the event for the dissolution for RESCO 2010/2011 and the appointment for RESCO 2011/2012 went successfully.

Being apart of RESCO 2010/2011 was memorable. To our chairperson, Muhammad Zulfaqar bin Ibrahim and Siti Norlaila binti Mat Wahap, we gratitudely thank you for guiding us and leading us to an awesome journey for the whole year of 2011. All your hardwork, preserverance and dedication are very much appreciated.

As for the new and fresh RESCO 2011/2012, I would like to congratulate Muhammad Mu'ammar bin Haji Awang Masnan and Auni Razanah @ Afiqah binti Haji Abdul Razak for being the new chairperson. Alongside, congratulation to the chosen bureau and block captains. I am really excited for this one :)

The residential college fresher's orientation went well earlier this month and RESCO would like to thank those who attended the orientation. It’s a pleasure to meet all of you and getting to know you; because the orientation week is all about you guys, your attendance is an appreciation to us.

It is sad that this year’s orientation is a little short due to the fasting month but we hope that you guys enjoyed it as much as we did.

RESCO would like to wish you a good stay in the Residential college and while staying here, we would like to remind the residents to stick to the Residential College rules and regulations. Those who’d like to post up something on the block notice board should first get it stamped at the office and get permission or else it will be removed without notice. It is also not advisable for female residents to wear inappropriate outfit when visiting areas that are not restricted to male visitors such as the foyer and the canteen.

For your convenience and future reference we will soon post the rules and regulations.

Assalamualaikum. Hai semua, hari ini Lea dapat satu artikel yang Lea rasakan agak menarik untuk dikongsikan bersama. Mengenai lelaki dan auratnya. Selama ini kita asyik dengar orang bercakap mengenai aurat wanita kan? So, apa pendapat kengkawan semua pula mengenai artikel ini? Marilah sama-sama kita fikirkan :D

Aurat lelaki sering diremehkan

Aurat lelaki seperti yang dinyatakan sebelum ini agak longgar kerana selain waktu bersendiri dan bersama isteri, aurat lelaki hanya antara pusat dan lutut sahaja. Maknanya kalau seseorang itu hendak melakukan solat, auratnya ialah cukup antara pusat dengan lutut, begitu juga kalau dia berada di khalayak ramai.

Berdasarkan itu, ramailah orang lelaki mengambil mudah dengan menyatakan harus kita berada dalam sesuatu majlis dengan hanya memakai seluar pendek sampai ke paras lutut. Sebab itulah barangkali kita sering melihat orang lelaki suka memakai seluar pendek ketika membasuh kereta di luar rumah.

Benar, jika mengikut hukum asal tidak salah memakai seluar pendek yang sampai ke paras lutut kerana itulah sahaja aurat bagi lelaki. Tetapi jangan lupa bahawa hukum itu perlu juga mengambil kira waktu berjalan dan duduk. Apakah ketika itu aurat lelaki tersebut masih terpelihara?

Bayangkan seorang lelaki yang hanya memakai kain sarung yang menutup pusatnya dan lutut. Solatnya sah kerana aurat bagi lelaki dalam solat ialah antara pusat dengan lutut. Tetapi bagaimana kalau dia rukuk, sujud, dan duduk antara dua sujud? Tidaklah lututnya ternampak? Sahkah solatnya ketika itu? Jawapannya ialah tidak sah.

Bagaimanapun pula kalau dia membasuh kereta dengan pakaian yang sama, sesekali dia akan tunduk juga. Adakah ketika itu tidak terbuka auratnya iaitu lutut? Kalaupun dia memakai seluar pendek yang labuh hingga ke paras lutut, waktu dia mencangkung akan ternampak lututnya. Tidak berdosakah dia ketika itu? Jawabnya tentu berdosa. Ya, kalau dalam solat tidak sah maka pada ketika waktu lain dia berdosa.

Bagi masyarakat kampung pula, mereka suka pakai kain pelakat yang digulung sampai ke paras lutut. Malah kadang-kadang ternampak pusatnya sewaktu terlondeh. Waktu berborak dengan kawan-kawan di serambi pasti tersingkap juga auratnya.

Bagaimana kalau dia melakukan solat dengan kain itu walaupun dilabuhkan di bawa lutut? Waktu rukuk dan sujud setidak-tidaknya akan ternampak pahanya oleh orang yang di belakangnya. Sahkah solatnya?

Begitu juga kalau si ayah memakai kain pelakat di dalam rumah bersama anak-anak, lalu pada waktu duduk terselak bahagian lututnya. Agaknya berdosa atau tidak ketika itu? Jawapannya sudah tentu berdosa kerana aurat ketika bersama mahram ialah antara pusat dengan lutut.

Kalau berdasarkan keterangan di atas adalah haram hukumnya, bagaimana keadaannya anak-anak muda yang suka memakai seluar pendek di dalam rumah, bersukan, main bola dan sebagainya? Seluar pendek yang dipakai mereka adalah di atas lutut, maka dalam keadaan itu dia bukan sahaja mendedahkan lututnya malah mendedahkan pahanya.

Nampaknya lelaki secara berleluasa mendedahkan aurat mereka tatkala bersukan. Apakah atas alasan bersukan aurat boleh didedahkan? Ya, kalau berhadapan dengan Allah sewaktu bersolat pun salah, betapa ketika berhadapan dengan orang ramai. Pada zaman ini, bukan sahaja orang yang dalam stadium yang melihatnya tetapi seluruh dunia melihatnya. Bayangkan berapa besar dosanya ketika itu.

Pakaian sukan tajaan Barat memang begitu. Hal ini kerana dalam teori sains, mereka yang memakai pakaian longgar dan menutup tubuh boleh melambatkan pergerakan. Tetapi teori itu ternyata tidak tepat apabila pelari pecut wanita Islam (dari Bahrain-kalau tak salah penulis) dapat mengalahkan pelari lain yang hanya sekadar memakai cawat dalam sukan bertaraf dunia baru-baru ini.

Selain itu, kalau benarlah teori itu, mengapa perlu pakaian itu diperkenalkan kepada pemain boling. Sukan itu tidak memerlukan pergerakan pantas. Barat menipu kita dan kita hanya menurut sahaja tanpa mahu membantah. Kita akur dengan peraturan itu demi sukan padahal kita belum berani berbincang secara serius untuk mohon pengecualian bagi atlet Muslim.

Bayangkan sudah berapa lama umat Islam melakukan dosa mendedahkan aurat dalam bidang sukan. Jika dalam hal ini kita sudah berdosa dengan Allah, bagaimana usaha kita untuk membentuk perpaduan melalui sukan seperti yang sering diuar-uarkan. Mahukah Allah merestuinya?

Pada pandangan penulis, cara berpakaian dalam sukan itulah yang menjadi sebab mengapa kurang penyertaan orang Islam dalam sukan. Sebenarnya mereka masih berminat untuk bersukan tetapi mereka tiada pilihan untuk bersukan. Akhirnya sukan dikuasai oleh orang bukan Islam.

Dalam hal ini, alangkah baiknya bagi negeri-negeri yang di perintah oleh PR itu menjadi model menganjurkan sukan yang mempunyai konsep pakaian sukan Islam. Jika mereka berjaya, pasti dunia akan melihat dan lambat laun mereka akan mencontohinya.

12 January 2011 marked the day for RESCO 2009/2010 dissolution and the appointment for RESCO 2010/2011.

Words can't express how we appreciate the time that we had together as one big family, thank you Ak. Abdul Aziz bin Pg. Hj. Azahari and Ruhayah Mohd Azri our chairperson and our leader that support us endlessly without regret and without hate. Thank you so much.

Congratulation to Siti Norlaila binti Mat Wahap and Muhammad Zulfaqar bin Ibrahim as the new chairperson for RESCO 2010/2011, may Allah guide you for your journey as the leader of new RESCO 2010/2011.

After a months we spend in Ramadhan Syahwal has come for us to celebrate with our loves ones and pray for those who already in the return to Allah.

Eid is an Arabic word that means “festivity”, while Fiṭr means “conclusion of the fast”; and so the holiday symbolizes the celebration of the conclusion of the month of fasting from dawn to sunset during the entire month of Ramadan

Do you know what is the meaning of EID ?

Eid is the combination of 3 meaningful words

E – Embrace with open heart

I – Inspire with impressive attitude

D – Distribute pleasure to all

Lastly, be careful when playing 'badil', have a safe holiday and Eid everyone =)

RESCO and FSC visit Pusat Ehsan in Kampong Bengkurong Masin

In the Holy month of Ramadhan, FBEPS Student Council (FSC) and RESCO conducted a welfare and good willing visit to Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam in Bengkurong.

The visit took place on Friday, 20th August 2010. We are given brief presentation on the centre's mission and vision. We are also guided to tour the facilities provided and mingle with the community there. Then we commence our activity to play with them including colouring, origami, musical chair and dancing together and it was really a great and meaningful experience.

Day 7 Orientation: Sport Day and Closing Ceremony

The last day of orientation was held on Sunday 8th August 2010 at the UBD Sport Complex. In the morning freshers are expected to arrive at the sport complex at 7am.....of course even the member of RESCO can't help of being overslept.....alright that was me! I thank Ateh, Laila, Didie for waking me up in the morning. This event was of course handle by Sport Bureau: Hj. Alimin bin Hj. Taib supported by Edie Anak Ajun to make this event possible.

At night the closing ceremony grace by the performance from Indian Culture and Malay culture winning drama. Not forgetting Korean Culture winning the best jingle and Thai culture bring home the highest score team during the Residential College Orientation. Congratulation to the winning Teams =)

Day 6 Orientation: Culture Night

A very nostalgically night as the fresher will be performing a drama and free show, however dance will be prohibit this year as Ramadhan will be coming. RESCO will also perform after all team showed up their talent on the stage. This is the collaboration between Public Relations Bureau: Shahwal Nizam bin Hj Yani and Nur Afiqah binti Hj Sahminan and Culture Bureau:Muhd Nazirul Hakeem bin Abd Azis and Siti Rahimah binti Haji Mohd Said.

Day 5 Orientation: Qiyamulail and rehearsel

The fourth night was the spiritual night but non-Muslim are not forgotten, hence there were activity for the non-Muslim and girls with their problem. The night was conducted by Spiritual Bureau: Mohammad Aminuddin bin Hj Md Deli and Siti Norlaila binti Mat Wahap and with the help of Block Captain the event was nicely done, we walking under the rain together =D

After the raining walk from mosque to hostel, female fresher are to sleep at Female Residential College's Hall while the male are to sleep at the mosque and prepare for Qiyamulail at 2.30am later,

BGR To Finally Serve Its True Purpose

RESCO marks 2010 with a serious start as we cleaned and refurnished Bilik Gerakan RESCO (BGR). Always intended for RESCO's main meeting place, it didn't quite present itself as an ideal place to hold meetings as more than half of the space was covered with pingpong sets, unused tables and tiny bits of rubbish.

That all finally changed, however, when we decided to conduct a full throttle cleaning campaign on our beloved BGR and not to forget, PC Room earlier today.

BGR is finally BGR again (if it ever was in the state it is now). The space is used to its fullest, the room is finally serving its purpose as a, well, meeting room. With the now professional environment, it is hoped that the professional aura will spark great ideas among all the RESCO members.

Alhamdulillah. We made it. We breathe long enough to step foot in the year 2010. The first year of the new decade. Sounds new. sounds promising. Why don't we make it a reality instead of just seeing it as a year that just 'sounds good'?

Having been formed in the name of RESCO since 2001, RESCO is still a relatively young and new student organization, responsible in coordinating activities that ensure the residents of the Residential Colleges' harmonious stay. Some may still find it easy to memorize all the names of the past RESCO chairmen and some of the inluential members.

How so? This is because each of the past years, RESCO had done something different, something that could be considered great in their attempt to prove to the members before them that they could do just as good or better. This is the kind of urge that we always need to instill in each and everyone of RESCO members at present.

RESCO is a much different student organization from the others, even from the MPPs, in the sense that RESCO is a student body that maintains a good mix of the experienced old guards and the new members that may just have the new formula to further improvise the organization. Often being the unsung heroes, it is of no surprise why RESCO is no strangers when it comes to getting involved in any of UBD's big events apart from organizing activities of our own.

One of the many challenges that RESCO members have to face is to differentiate between personal and professional ties. This is because, more often than not, it is personal relations that affect the quality of work. Good relation equals to good cooperation. Bad cooperation of course, you fill in the blank. Having said this, it is important to maintain good relations not only among RESCO members, but also with other student bodies and the significant others. Afterall, cooperation with the students and UBD officers is inevitable.

Now entering my third term as a RESCO member, being the senior-most, I've seen it all, heard it all, tasted it all, smelled it all and touched it all. However, despite being the most experienced, Alhamdulillah now holding the post as Deputy chairman of RESCO, I still am expecting more to come, all in the year 2010.

Being the first RESCO of the decade, ladies and gentlemen, why don't we set the benchmark for the next RESCO in years to come. Let us set examples for others to follow, for others to aspire. Not only we will try to improve on the things that we left off last year, we will do some changes as well. All in the year 2010. After all, making changes are just as challenging as taking off from a wrong start.

On Saturday, 12th December 2009, the Appreciation of RESCO 08/09 and Appointment of RESCO 09/10 event was held at the Female Residential Hall. The Guest of Honor on that day was Puan Zalinawati binti Hj. Mohaimin, Assistant Registrar of Students'

Affairs Section University Brunei Darussalam.

After the Chairwoman of RESCO 08/09, Dyg. Analisa Amu, delivered her opening remarks, the Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to the RESCO members of 08/09 Session. And shortly after that, the Certificates of Appointment were given out to the RESCO members of 09/10 Session.

FAQ about Gala Night

1. Can I bring my spouse/family/friends?

Yes. It is for a good cause that we encourage you to bring as many people as you like to buy the tickets and enjoy the dinner.

2. What is the difference between $50 and $30 ticket?

Not much difference but the table of $50 ticket will be at the front row.

3. What should I wear?As long as you wear your mask but please dress appropriately. Please do not hesitate to ask if you still in doubt.

4. Where can I get the tickets?Tickets are now available at admin foyer(where you can get your graduation gown), library and any booth all over the UBD campus. We will also be setting up booth at the mall during the weekend. You can also get the tickets from your respective faculty AR.

UBD Charity Gala Dinner - Theme: "Masquerade Glam"

Host: Universiti Brunei Darusalam's 21st Convocation 2009

Date: Saturday, November 7, 2009

Time: 7:30pm - 11:00pm

Location: Royal Brunei Polo & Riding Club

In conjunction with the 21st Convocation Festival, UBD will be organising a Charity Dinner in support of the Humanitarian Fund for Disaster victims. Ticket prices are $30 and $50 per person and all proceeds will be donated 100% towards the cause.

Performances for the night include the Finale of the UBD's Got Talent Competition, performances by Hans Anwar, Joe M, Puteri, Hill and many more!

Tickets are available from the UBD Campus and the Mall, Gadong.

Crossed The Finish Line But Nowhere Near $2K

It was a tough race last Wednesday. 28 teams took part with $2K up for grabs. Yet, Team RESCO To The Rescue only managed to become the 11th team to reach the finishing point, taking 1 hour and 33 minutes in process. Nevertheless it's worth the effort. We tried our best. UBD's Amazing Race 2009 is sure a race to remember. Good job team and organizers!

Aziz, Eqah, Pinky and Syaza (me) made up the RESCO unofficial team for the UBD's Amazing Race that will be held this coming Wednesday, 28th October 2009. We are going to put on the RESCO polo shirt and use the name RESCO itself as the name of the team. Having said that, we hope you guys to wish us the best of luck for this race.

Raya with RESCO. It's A Wrap!

Last Wednesday, 14th October 2009, RESCO organised an open house raya celebration, taking place at Dewan Asrama Perempuan, Kolej Kediaman Siswi. The turnout was unbelievable. Judging by the number of attendance that we received, it can be considered a success compared to last year's. Thanks to those who made an effort to come down to RESCO's raya open house celebration and made this event a huge success.

In our effort to make the simple event a happening one, we organised various quizzes as well as lucky draws with many prizes to be won for the audience to take part in and the response that we received was very very encouraging.

Among the things that RESCO held during the evening was the 'scratch and win' competition whereby there were 2 $5 Easi and 2 $5 b.mobile recharge cards to be won. Those who can put in the recharge card numbers and recharge the fastest, well, of course, gets his/her account recharged.

The highlight of the evening, Zulkamal won the male's best dress award. Congrats Zul!
